"Stealth Tire Minder Max New Owner
Information Sheet"
Dear Tire
Minder®Max “STEALTH” owner,
Congratulations!
You have just purchased the precision tire pressure indicator
the High Pressure Tire Minder® Max “STEALTH”.
The units enclosed
have been ordered by you specifically for your vehicle. These
units will give you an indication should there be a problem with
the inflation of your tires just by looking at them. If you wish
to confirm the values, you can find this information on a
placard on the doorjambs, inside the re-fuelling door, in the
glove compartment, or the owner’s manual.
Before installing
the High Pressure Tire Minders®Max “STEALTH”, make sure
all tires are filled to the correct pressure. Once installed the
top portion of the Tire Minder®Max “STEALTH” will appear
black. Occasionally this may take one or two minutes upon the
first installation; if the unit does not turn black all the way
after a few minutes, check again that the tire has enough air
pressure. Keep in mind that if the tire pressure drops by
approximately 10 to 12% the black
will disappear and the yellow will start to show. You should
“top up” the air pressure ASAP. Again, when the top portion of
the Tire Minder®Max “STEALTH” is yellow, inflate the tire
immediately to prevent poor fuel consumption, handling, and
excessive tire wear. If the Tire Minder®Max
shows yellow again in a relatively short period of time, have
the tire inspected by a qualified tire specialist (see helpful
hints & recommendations).
For your long-term
enjoyment, we have added
a brief list
of helpful hints & recommendations
below.
HELPFUL
HINTS & RECOMMENDATIONS
The High Pressure
Tire Minder®Max “STEALTH” is an active component
operating in a very unfriendly environment. As such, some
maintenance and monitoring is recommended. The following are
some suggestions to extend the life of your Tire Minders®Max “STEALTH”
and ensure continued proper performance.
1. CAUTIONARY
NOTES
a) The Tire
Minder®Max should attach smoothly and with little resistance.
“Finger” tighten only – do not use tools. If the Tire Minder®Max
is difficult to install, it usually means the threads on the
wheel’s valve stem are damaged. Do not force the Tire
Minder®Max! Have the valve stem replaced.
b) Do not use in
off-road conditions where constant aggressive driving occurs.
Rocks and debris could cause damage.
c) Avoid spilling
gasoline or other caustic liquids on any part of the Tire
Minders®Max.
d) Do not use with
unprofessionally installed valve extenders (they could leak and
cause a flat). If you need valve extenders have them installed
by a qualified technician.
e) If you find you
are constantly “topping up” the tires, we suggest covering the
Tire Minder®Max with soapy water to check for leaks. This will
tell you instantly if the Tire Minder®Max has been damaged and
needs to be replaced or if you need to take the tire to a
service centre.
2. REMOVE AND
INSPECT FOR DAMAGE EVERY 2 OR 3 MONTHS
Be sure that the
black O-ring seal remains in the chamber of the Tire Minder®Max
after removal. Check that no foreign objects have entered the
chamber and that the clear acrylic top is in good condition. At
this time, you should check the actual tire pressure with a
proper gauge and top-up the air if necessary. It is quite normal
for tires to lose one pound per month (permeation).
3. OIL CHANGES
AND SERVICE
We recommend
removing the Tire Minders®Max before you take your vehicle in
for service. We have had a number of reports of owners
mysteriously losing one or more, as well as missing O-rings
(when the car is picked up) which results in flat tires.
4. WHEN TO
REPLACE
As with any other actively working component of your car,
replacement at some point is recommended. Given the extreme
conditions under which the Tire Minders®Max operate (road salt,
ice/snow, desert sand/heat, gravel roads, etc.) only you can
decide when to replace all four units. As a general rule of
thumb, you may consider replacing them at 30,000 miles or
annually.
